Sweet Pea designer and proprietor, Siobhan O' Neill has been making jewellery since the early 1990s. After training at Middlesex University, she went on to produce one-off catwalk pieces for the likes of John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Armani, amongst others. Meanwhile, her own-label parasols and umbrellas, were being bought by leading fashion stores from Harvey Nichols to Bergdorf Goodman. She went on to set up Sweet Pea in 1991.
O'Neill's signature style owes much to her eye for vintage designs and fabrics – particularly the glamour of the 30s and 40s, with its exquisite workmanship and attention to detail.
Drawn to the colours of nature since the age of five, when she started her own flower garden whilst growing up in the Cotswolds, nature continues to be a huge inspiration. 'I love the change of the seasons and being by the sea,' she says.
Romantic, elegant and understated, with more than a nod in the direction of Hollywood-era old school glamour, Sweet Pea remains the antithesis of disposable, 'Bling' culture. 'It's more about enhancing the wearer, rather than taking her over,' says O'Neill.
